Happy New Year!
Posted by Captain Tim on Jan 1, 2012
From Kathy and me, Happy New Year!  May 2012 bring health, happiness and a cooler full of fish to everyone out there.  A special thank you to all of my clients that sent a card or gift to us this holiday season.  It is very much appreciated and very nice to know that your experience with us gave you photos, stories and memories you enjoy sharing with all of your family and friends.
The weather in Northern Wisconsin has been very mild so far this winter.  Ice fishing has been pretty good with some walleyes and a lot of panfish being caught.  Snowmobiling, skiing and snowshoeing is just starting to get going due to the lack of snow but with the 4 or so inches we got last night more people will be out today before or after the Packer game.  Go Pack Go!
For all of those Minnesota and Chicago fans that won't have much to do after this weekend, now is an excellent time to get your 2012 calendars out and plan a trip to come visit us.  Summer in Door County is a perfect time to catch a few fish, take pictures and make memories that you can use in your Christmas cards next year.

Hope to see you on the water.

Taking Bookings
Posted by Captain Tim on Dec 11, 2011
Due to multiple requests to secure bookings for the 2012 season, I opened my calendar for the season.  The season this year will tentatively start on June 13th and run through the third week in August.
If you are trying to think of a Christmas gift for a certain special person why not give him or her a Door County charter.  Great memories, photos, and a few big salmon in the freezer will make almost anyone happy!

On to December!

Kathy and I had a great Thanksgiving hosting family and friends for a few days.  A 30lb bird, good food, family and friends are what that holidays are all about!  I hope all of you out there had a festive Thanksgiving full of turkey, friends and family.
Deer hunting is about to wrap up for me this year.  I shot a nice 8 pointer with my bow so my gun hunt this year was a trophy hunt.  I saw plenty of deer but none big enough to hang on the wall so they are all growing up for another year.  I hope to get out one last time tomorrow when the rain is suppose to turn to snow in the Northwoods.
My mind now turns to first ice walleyes but with the current weather it looks like it may be a week or more off.  So I am currently sitting in our basement in front of a nice warm fire, watching the Badgers and putting new line on the tip ups.
For those of you starting to think about salmon fishing, I will be opening the 2012 calendar in January for reservations.  Get your summer calendars out, get a group together and plan a date to visit us in beautiful Door County to tangle with big kings!

Fall Newsletter is out!
Posted by Captain Tim on Oct 23, 2011
We are well into fall in Northern Wisconsin.  The deer are moving, there are a few birds in the woods for the dog to chase and muskies are biting.  I really love this time of year!  There is so much to do but so few weekends to do it.  I really do wish it lasted longer.
I did take a little time last weekend to compile all of the numbers from the 2011 season.  They are included in the fall newsletter posted to on this site.  As many of you experienced, the fish numbers were down but size was up.  We land a lot of 20lb+ kings this year.  For the complete season recap check out the fall newsletter.  Enjoy the fall season!

Last weekend of the season
Posted by Captain Tim on Aug 22, 2011
The last weekend of the season saw mixed results.  On Friday evening a group from MN was chased off the lake by a large thunderstorm at 5pm.  The next morning, after the cold front the fishing was tough.  The same group boated 5 of 7 fish in 5 hours on the water.  Saturday evening was much the same.  We landed 4 fish in 4 hours of fishing.  Finally on Sunday morning in just 3 hours we landed 7 for 8 fish including 2 big four year olds.  It was a great trip to end a spotty season on the lake.
If any of you are curious about the season as a whole, I will have the season statistics in my fall newsletter that will be out at the end of September.  Thank you to everyone who made this season a success.  I hope to see you again next year.  Time to go back to teaching...

Fish are biting!

The last 2 days have been pretty good on Michigan.  Last night the Hong family from Brookfield, WI landed 8 for 10 kings on a 4-hour evening trip.  Most fish came on spoons in 120fow from 7-8:30pm.  This morning a group from central Illinois landed 9 for 15 kings.  Again, most fish came on spoons in 120fow.  Water temps have cooled again with a nice thermocline at about 50 feet.  The 4 year olds have been absent but we are getting a lot of 2 and 3 year olds between 10 and 15lbs.  With only a few days left of my season it is nice to end the year on a bright note.

Oklahoma luck

A couple from Oklahoma had a beautiful morning on Michigan this morning.  They landed 10 kings and released 2 shakers.  Most fish this morning came on spoons in 120+ fow.  The water temps have gone back down and there seemed to be a few more fish around this morning than yesterday.

Finally back out

After having to cancel 3 trips due to strong NE winds, we made it out this morning.  We were greeted by calm seas, a great sunrise and darn warm water all the way down to 75 feet!  So we headed out into the deep and over the next 4 hours landed 6 of the 9 fish we had on.  Most came on riggers with spoons.  The SW wind we have now should push some of the warmth back out into the lake.  No trip so far for tonight but I have 2 tomorrow.

More wind!

Last night and this morning we battled strong winds on the lake.  The Koestring family went 5 for 5 last night on a 3 hour tirp.  They did a really good job handling the rods in the swells and didn't lose a single fish.
This morning we had confused seas as 4 foot rollers were coming out to the SE and a strong NE wind kicked up 4 footers that crossed them.  We landed 5 fish in the first hour out and lost a few others.  Lake Michigan flu caught 2 of the fishermen but they toughed it out and battled a 5 more fish, but onlyl landing 2 in the next 2 hours.  The biggest of the morning was just under 20lbs.
We couldn't make it out tonight as the NE wind continues to blow at up to 30kts.  Tomorrow doesn't look good either.  We will have to wait and see.

Calming down

After having to reschedule a trip yesterday morning, a group from Minnesota braved the 20kt winds to try their luck on Michigan.  It was a bit bumpy and one battled the Lake Michigan flu for most of the trip but they landed 4 nice kings including a 17lber.
This morning winds calmed dramatically.  The Arnott family had success, landing 8 fish and releasing 1 little guy on 10 releases.  The biggest was a 21lber caught on a dipsy with a fly. A fun time was had by all and the only complaints were those of hunger by 2 growing young men.  Thank God I had some peanuts along or they may have eaten the fresh salmon!  The fish this morning were interested in both spoons and flies and were in 90-120 fow.
